Appeal: false claim
From HEATED Debate w/ Feminists. Wage Gap, Pro Choice ft. @MikeRashidOfficial.
- #199235:17upheld Myron Gaines claim: false claim (+1)
The council upheld the finding: Myron Gaines gave away 1 point on Alētheia, the tally of checked facts.
The claim, as Thucydides noted it: It is biologically and instinctually hardwired in men to want to be with a woman who is chaste.
Diogenes: Thucydides (verifier): unsupported. No source was named for this claim in the debate. The largest relevant cross-cultural body of evidence, Buss's 37-culture study, found that preference for chastity in a mate was "the most variable" of all traits studied across cultures, with 38% of samples showing no significant sex difference at all -- directly at odds with a claim of a fixed, biologically hardwired, universal male instinct for chastity in a partner. As an unsourced sweeping biological assertion that the best available research contradicts, the claim is unsupported.- Aristotle uphold: On the record: Myron's declared and consistently held position across the whole show is that chastity is a female-value marker men are "biologically hardwired" to want, a claim he repeats unsourced multiple times (e.g., at 85:59 tying sexuality to lowered value) without ever citing a source for it specifically, unlike his later wage-gap claims where he does name Peterson et al. The verifier's finding stands: no source was named for this specific biological-instinct claim anywhere in the transcript, and the best cross-cultural evidence (Buss 1989) shows chastity preference to be the most cross-culturally variable of mate preferences rather than a fixed universal male instinct, so the claim is unsupported and never corrected by the speaker.
- Socrates uphold: Read blind, found "hasty generalisation", on the same ledger as the callout. Myron asserts, as flat unqualified fact, that it is "biologically and instinctually hardwired in men" to want a chaste woman — a universal claim about all men's psychology stated with no study, source, or specific evidence, continuing the same unsupported essentialist pattern as his adjacent claim about women's chastity moments earlier.
- Plato uphold: On the record: Myron's declared framework throughout the debate is that he argues from "facts" and "biology" rather than feelings, repeatedly asserting sweeping unnamed-study claims about innate sex differences; this chastity-instinct claim is a continuation of that pattern, and it fails the same way other unsourced sweeping claims in his case have. Thucydides's check is sound: Myron presents "hardwired, instinctual" universal male preference for chastity as settled biological fact without naming any source, and the best-known cross-cultural mate-preference literature (Buss 1989) actually found chastity preference to be the most cross-culturally variable trait studied, with no significant sex difference in over a third of cultures sampled — the opposite of a fixed universal instinct. The claim is unsupported and contradicted by the best available evidence.
