Appeal: hasty generalisation

- #20111:46:54upheld Mike Rashid psogos: hasty generalisation (+1)
The council upheld the call: Mike Rashid gave away 1 point.
“To [Top] 20% Mhmm. Is having sex with all the available women. Mhmm. You understand what I'm saying? Like, that's proof.” quote corrected
Diogenes: Mike treats his own sexual success as "proof" and says "These stats are real", but one man's experience can't establish a population-level distribution. Isla points this out directly: "You're one out of how many".- Aristotle uphold: On the record: Mike Rashid's running stance across the debate is that of a guest sharing personal experience and reactions rather than advancing population-level statistical theses; at 106:54 he departs from that stance by explicitly offering his single case as "proof" of a broad statistical claim about all men, which is the hasty-generalisation the call identifies. Mike's role throughout has been offering personal anecdotes and reactions rather than asserting population-level claims himself, but here he explicitly steps into that territory: after Fresh/Myron assert the "10-20% of men have 80% of the women" statistic, Mike offers his own dating success ("I could be in a room with eight women and six of them I've been with") as "proof" that "these stats are real." Treating one man's personal experience as confirmation/proof of a population-wide distribution is precisely the hasty-generalisation error, and Isla's on-record rebuttal ("You're one out of how many") names exactly this defect in what Mike said. The element is present in the transcript itself, not just in the callout's gloss.
- Socrates uphold: Read blind, found "begging the question", on the same ledger as the callout. Isla had twice asked where Myron's "10-20% of men have all the sex" stat comes from (104:32, 105:33), a question Myron doesn't actually answer with a source until a moment later (107:02, Tinder studies). Here Mike jumps in and, instead of supplying any independent support, simply restates the unproven claim itself — "top 20% is having sex with all the available women" — and declares "that's proof," treating the assertion as its own validation rather than giving evidence for it.
- Plato uphold: On the record: Mike Rashid holds no fixed declared framework in this debate and alternates between anecdote and even-handed asides; here he offers his own personal sexual experience as "proof" of Myron's population-wide 10-20% statistic, which is squarely the hasty-generalisation move Isla immediately names ("You're one out of how many"). Mike converts a single personal anecdote into "proof" of a broad claim about the entire dating population, which is a textbook hasty generalisation rather than mere agreement or restatement; the fault is committed in his own words ("that's proof"), not merely described, and Isla's on-the-floor rebuttal confirms the move was live and answerable.
