Appeal: straw man
From HEATED Debate w/ Feminists. Wage Gap, Pro Choice ft. @MikeRashidOfficial.
- #20312:02:26upheld Myron Gaines psogos: straw man (+1)
The council upheld the call: Myron Gaines gave away 1 point.
“The problem is that you want all the authority with zero responsibility. Okay? More of this feminist propaganda.”
Diogenes: Penelope and Isla argued that responsibility for conception is shared ("It's a co-choice", "his responsibility" to use protection). Nobody claimed women should bear zero responsibility. Myron attacks that position instead of theirs and labels it "feminist propaganda".- Aristotle uphold: On the record: Myron's declared position in this stretch is that women hold 100% authority over conception outcomes (abortion) and should therefore bear matching responsibility; Isla and Penelope's actual counter, held consistently in this exchange, was that responsibility for conception is shared between both parties, not that women should bear none. The transcript shows Isla and Penelope arguing joint/shared responsibility ("he also allowed himself...", "it takes two", "his responsibility" to wrap it up) rather than claiming women should bear zero responsibility; recasting their shared-responsibility position as "zero responsibility" before dismissing it as "feminist propaganda" mischaracterizes what was actually argued.
- Socrates uphold: Read blind, found "ad hominem", on the same ledger as the callout. The money analogy just before this line was a real argument, but "More of this feminist propaganda" adds nothing to it: it doesn't bear on whether the authority/responsibility claim is true, it's backed by nothing specific tying this particular exchange to any "propaganda," and it functions to recast Isla and Penelope's pushback as tribal noise rather than invite them to keep examining the point — a dismissal that plays to an audience already egging him on in the super chats rather than answering the substance.
- Plato uphold: On the record: Myron's declared framework throughout the pregnancy/abortion exchange is that authority (the choice to abort or keep) must be matched by responsibility, and he has just made that case via the money-spending analogy; but Isla and Penelope's actual position on record was consistently that responsibility is shared ("it takes two," "his responsibility to wrap it up," "we're both responsible"), never that women should bear none, so this line recasts their stated position into the extreme he then dismisses as "feminist propaganda.". The transcript bears out the referee's reading: Isla and Penelope repeatedly argued for shared responsibility between the man and woman, not exemption of the woman from responsibility, so "you want all the authority with zero responsibility" mischaracterizes the position actually argued and dismisses it with a crowd-pleasing label rather than engaging the shared-responsibility claim on its merits.
