- #222844:20upheld Jay Dyer claim: false claim (+1)
The council upheld the finding, but nothing on this stream goes on anyone’s record.
The claim, as Thucydides noted it: Jacob Rees-Mogg is a mouthpiece of the Rothschild bank and of the Bank of England.
Diogenes: Thucydides (verifier): unsupported; the source does not bear what is drawn from it. At 44:04 S1 calls Rees-Mogg "the mouthpiece of the Rothschild Bank... Bank of England mouthpiece." No source is given. Rees-Mogg ran Somerset Capital Management, a fund manager, and was a Conservative MP and cabinet minister. He holds no known role at Rothschild or the Bank of England. The claim is a conspiracy trope and cannot support the larger conclusion that "Fabian socialist banking elites" push war; Rees-Mogg is also a Conservative, not a Fabian.- Aristotle uphold: On the record: Jay Dyer opened as host of an open forum, then moved to sponsor reads and news commentary with a conspiratorial, anti-establishment stance; the Rees-Mogg line fits that stance and is a flat factual claim with no source. He calls Rees-Mogg a Rothschild and Bank of England mouthpiece with no source, and nothing in the debate backs it. Rees-Mogg ran a fund manager and sat as a Conservative MP, so the claim is unsupported and fails the check. No objection was raised, and Dyer never corrected the line.
- Socrates overturn: Read blind, found nothing worth calling. This is part of Jay's news monologue. No opponent is on the floor answering it, and Ancient Dolphin only murmurs. The floor rule applies, so it isn't judged. The Rothschild claim is asserted without support, but that is commentary about an absent person, not an exchange.
- Plato uphold: On the record: Jay Dyer opened as host of an open forum, declared no thesis, and has held a pattern of dismissing callers and running geopolitical conspiracy commentary; the Rees-Mogg line fits that and does not depart from it. Dyer asserts, with no source, that Rees-Mogg is a Rothschild and Bank of England mouthpiece. Rees-Mogg is a fund manager and former Conservative MP with no such role, and Dyer does not correct the claim. The verifier's finding holds.
The bench voted on this, and its verdict is kept as it was given. It does not vote on the calls of a call-in show now, and nothing there counts on anybody’s record.
