- #22381:16:16upheld Jay Dyer claim: false claim (+1)
The council upheld the finding, but nothing on this stream goes on anyone’s record.
The claim, as Thucydides noted it: An Islamic development in Texas (an "Islamic oasis") is 85% complete, and Muslims are planning an entire Muslim city in Texas.
Diogenes: Thucydides (verifier): unsupported; the source does not bear what is drawn from it. The Muslim-centric development in Texas that I found is EPIC City, a planned 402-acre community of about 1,000 homes, a mosque and a school. It is not a city. Reports describe it as still in the planning stage with no plans filed and no ground broken, and it has since been rebranded "The Meadow." I found no source for "85% complete." The speaker names none, and the "Islamic oasis" label may refer to something else I could not identify. The conclusion that it is a propaganda base showing Islam "massively expanding" is the speaker's own inference, and no source bears it.- Aristotle uphold: On the record: Jay Dyer opened as host of an open forum, moved to sponsor reads and conspiratorial news commentary, and has held that stance; the Texas Islamic-development line is a flat factual claim that fits it but offers no source. He stated "85% complete" and a planned Muslim city in Texas as fact without naming a source. The verifier found the project is still in planning, is not a city, and has no source for the completion figure. The finding holds and he did not correct it.
- Socrates overturn: Read blind, found nothing worth calling. This is Jay's news monologue about a Texas development. No opponent is on the floor answering it, so the floor rule applies and it isn't judged. It is also a factual aside, not an argument aimed at anyone in the exchange. Whether the 85% figure or the "Muslim city" claim is true is for the verifier, not a fault of reasoning.
- Plato uphold: On the record: Jay Dyer opened as host of an open forum and declared no thesis beyond Orthodox presuppositionalism, and has held a pattern of dismissing callers and running geopolitical conspiracy commentary; the Texas Islamic oasis line fits that commentary and does not depart from it. Jay offered no source for "85% complete" or for a planned Muslim city. The verifier found only EPIC City, a planned 402-acre community of about 1,000 homes, still in planning with no ground broken. Jay did not correct the claim, so the finding holds against the record.
The bench voted on this, and its verdict is kept as it was given. It does not vote on the calls of a call-in show now, and nothing there counts on anybody’s record.
