- #22522:04:50upheld Jay Dyer claim: false claim (+1)
The council upheld the finding, but nothing on this stream goes on anyone’s record.
The claim, as Thucydides noted it: In the West, most Orthodox churches are under the sway of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the US State Department, not Russia.
Diogenes: Thucydides (verifier): unsupported; the source does not bear what is drawn from it. At 124:29 Jay Dyer says "in the West, most of orthodox churches are under the sway of the EP in the US state department." He names no source. Part of it is true: the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and several other bodies are under Constantinople. But the OCA (autocephalous, from Moscow), Antiochian, Serbian, Romanian and ROCOR jurisdictions are not, so "most" is doubtful. The "sway" of the State Department is an assertion with no evidence cited. It does not show that claims of Russian influence are a "boomer conspiracy."- Aristotle uphold: On the record: Jay Dyer opened as host of an open forum and, after the sponsor reads, held a conspiratorial, anti-Western-establishment stance; the called line is a flat factual claim that fits that stance and does not depart from it. Jay states flatly, with no source, that most Orthodox churches in the West are under the EP and the US State Department. The verifier is right that the OCA, Antiochian, Serbian, Romanian and ROCOR bodies are not under Constantinople, so "most" is doubtful. The State Department "sway" is asserted with nothing offered for it. The claim is unsupported and the finding holds.
- Socrates overturn: Read blind, found nothing worth calling. Jay answers a caller's anecdote about Dutch media hit pieces with an offhand factual aside. The caller doesn't dispute it and no one answers it. It is a contested claim given without support, but it isn't relied on afterwards as though proven, and it isn't a move against any live question. Nothing is worth calling.
- Plato uphold: On the record: Jay Dyer opened as host of an open forum, declared Eastern Orthodoxy and presuppositional method, and has held a running pattern of polemic and geopolitical conspiracy commentary; the called line is an unsourced factual claim in that vein, not a departure from it. The claim that most Western Orthodox churches are under the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the US State Department is stated flatly with no source. The jurisdictions the verifier names (OCA, Antiochian, Serbian, Romanian, ROCOR) are not under Constantinople, so "most" fails. The State Department "sway" is asserted with nothing offered for it. Nobody on the floor corrected it. The finding holds.
The bench voted on this, and its verdict is kept as it was given. It does not vote on the calls of a call-in show now, and nothing there counts on anybody’s record.
