- #23941:59upheld Jay Dyer claim: false claim (+1)
The council upheld the finding, but nothing on this stream goes on anyone’s record.
The claim, as Thucydides noted it: It is 100% fact that John Wayne Gacy worked with other people and was connected to a network that included Dean Corll, the Candyman killer.
Diogenes: Thucydides (verifier): unsupported. Jay Dyer says it is "100% fact" that Gacy "was connected to a network that included Dean Corll, the Candyman killer" (heard at 118:56, not 01:59). I know of no documented link between them. Corll killed in Houston from 1970 to 1973 with the help of David Brooks and Elmer Wayne Henley, and Henley shot him in 1973. Gacy killed in the Chicago area from 1972 to 1978 and was convicted in 1980 as the sole killer. Suspicions that Gacy had accomplices remain speculation, and no court or investigation tied him to Corll. I did not open a web source for this check, so the finding rests on the established case record. "100% fact" is far stronger than anything that record shows.- Aristotle uphold: On the record: Jay Dyer opened as an Orthodox Christian conspiratorial commentator who says serial killers are tied to hidden occult and intelligence networks that official history conceals, and he has held that throughout. This Gacy–Corll claim is that thesis applied to a case, so it does not depart from his position. Dyer calls it "100% fact" that Gacy was connected to a network that included Dean Corll. He gives no source, and no one on the floor objected. The verifier found no documented link: Corll died in 1973, and Gacy was convicted in 1980 as a sole killer. The claim is unsupported, and the certainty he claims for it is far stronger than anything the record shows. This is consistent with my earlier upholding of his related Gacy and Lucas claims.
- Socrates overturn: Read blind, found nothing worth calling. This is Dyer's solo commentary over played clips. No opponent is on the floor to answer or be answered, so the floor rule bars a call. Consistent with my earlier rulings on his monologue lines about Lucas and Gacy.
- Plato uphold: On the record: Jay Dyer opened with conspiratorial commentary about intelligence-state and occult networks behind serial killers, and has held it throughout. The called line is a flat "100% fact" about a Gacy–Corll network, which fits that thesis. It states the claim more strongly than he stated his other claims, which he often hedged as unverified. He asserts "100% fact" that Gacy was in a network that included Corll, and he offers no source. The case record does not support a Gacy–Corll link: Corll died in 1973 in Houston and Gacy was convicted in 1980 as the sole killer. The only supported link is Gacy to Norman, and he later says Gacy had a direct connection to Norman and Corll. The certainty goes far beyond the record, so I uphold at minor, consistent with my earlier rulings on the Gacy–Norman–Corll claim.
The bench voted on this, and its verdict is kept as it was given. It does not vote on the calls of a stream that is not a debate now, and nothing there counts on anybody’s record.
