- #23982:08upheld Jay Dyer claim: false claim (+1)
The council upheld the finding, but nothing on this stream goes on anyone’s record.
The claim, as Thucydides noted it: The Gacy and Herb Baumeister cases involved gay BDSM clubs and networks that connected together and shared recordings of what they did.
Diogenes: Thucydides (verifier): unsupported. At 128:55–129:13 Dyer says of Gacy and Baumeister: "These are BDS gay clubs and networks, and they connect together and they share recordings on record of what they do." He names no source. Standard case accounts say Baumeister picked up men at Indianapolis gay bars and Gacy lured young men to his Chicago-area home. Neither account documents BDSM clubs that linked up and traded recordings. The Gacy–John David Norman link he calls "on record" comes mainly from Maury Terry's theorizing and Gacy's own claims, and mainstream investigators reject it. I did not open a primary source in this check, so this rests on my recall of the case literature.- Aristotle uphold: On the record: Jay Dyer opened as an Orthodox Christian conspiratorial commentator who says serial killers sit in hidden occult and intelligence networks that official history conceals. He has held that throughout, and this Gacy–Baumeister claim is the thesis applied to cases, not a departure from it. Dyer says Gacy and Baumeister were in gay BDSM clubs and networks that connected and shared recordings. He names no source, and no one on the floor objected. The verifier found no documentation of linked clubs or shared recordings in standard accounts of either case. The verifier's check rests on recall of the case literature, not on an opened source. That still leaves the claim unsupported, in line with my earlier upholding of his related Gacy and Lucas claims. This differs from my overturning of the recording-equipment line, which was a separate and narrower remark. Severity stays minor.
- Socrates overturn: Read blind, found nothing worth calling. This is Dyer's solo commentary over a played documentary, with no opponent on the floor to answer or be answered. The floor rule bars a call. This is consistent with my earlier rulings on his monologue lines.
- Plato uphold: On the record: Jay Dyer opened with conspiratorial commentary about intelligence-state and occult networks behind serial killers, and has held it throughout. The called line (Gacy and Baumeister in linked gay BDSM clubs that traded recordings) fits that thesis, and he states it flatly with no source. He asserts as fact that Gacy and Baumeister belonged to BDSM clubs and networks that connected and shared recordings. No source is named, and the standard case record does not show linked clubs of that kind. The verifier worked from recall of the case literature rather than a primary source, but nothing in the debate supports the claim. It is a small, unsupported factual claim, consistent with my other upheld rulings on his network claims, so I uphold at minor.
The bench voted on this, and its verdict is kept as it was given. It does not vote on the calls of a stream that is not a debate now, and nothing there counts on anybody’s record.
