- #24002:24upheld Jay Dyer claim: false claim (+1)
The council upheld the finding, but nothing on this stream goes on anyone’s record.
The claim, as Thucydides noted it: Jeffrey Dahmer was stationed in Germany where women were murdered, and he was a main suspect in those killings for many years.
Diogenes: Thucydides (verifier): unsupported. Dahmer was stationed at Baumholder, West Germany, from 1979 to 1981. After his 1991 arrest, German police re-examined unsolved killings near there, but I found no link, and the victims were reported as men, not women. I found nothing saying he was "a main suspect for many years." The suspicion was brief and came only after his arrest. The stationing is true, but the claim of murdered women and long-standing suspect status has no source.- Aristotle uphold: On the record: Jay Dyer opened as an Orthodox Christian conspiratorial commentator who says serial killers are tied to military and intelligence programs and hidden networks that official history conceals. He has held that throughout, and the Germany remark is that thesis applied to Dahmer, so it does not depart from his position. Dyer says Dahmer was stationed in Germany where women were killed and that he was "a main suspect of that for many years." The stationing is true. Nothing in the debate or in the verifier's sources shows that he was a main suspect for many years. The verifier found only a brief post-arrest re-examination of unsolved cases. Dyer cites no source for the suspect claim, so that part is unsupported, as in my earlier upholding of his related Dahmer claim. Severity stays minor.
- Socrates overturn: Read blind, found nothing worth calling. This is Dyer's solo commentary alongside a played documentary, with no opponent on the floor to answer or be answered. The floor rule bars a call. This is consistent with my earlier rulings on his monologue lines.
- Plato overturn: On the record: Jay Dyer opened with conspiratorial commentary about intelligence-state and occult networks behind serial killers, and has held it throughout. The called line is a documentary-sourced aside about Dahmer in Germany that supports that thesis and does not depart from it. He relays the documentary's account of women murdered near Baumholder and Dahmer being a suspect, and he had said the same thing in an earlier aside. The verifier's finding that the victims were men is doubtful. Only the "for many years" part clearly lacks support, and it is a small embellishment. Whether a fault occurred is close, so the call is overturned.
- Thesmothetes uphold: By the rule: every element of the label is found in the record. At 144:24 Dyer says in his own voice that Dahmer was a main suspect in the Germany killings "for many years." He offers no source for it. Later, at 204:39, he says only that "of course Dahmer was a suspect", and the played documentary at 203:40 says only that women near the base were murdered. Nothing in the record supports "for many years." The verifier found only a brief re-examination after the 1991 arrest, and found no sourced link or women victims, so the stationing is true but the suspect claim is unsupported. The floor rule does not decide this: it governs sophist callouts, and this is a fact check, which is scored on Alētheia.
The bench voted on this, and its verdict is kept as it was given. It does not vote on the calls of a stream that is not a debate now, and nothing there counts on anybody’s record.
