Appeal: false claim

- #24052:46:28upheld Jay Dyer claim: false claim (+1)
The council upheld the finding, but nothing on this stream goes on anyone’s record.
The claim, as Thucydides noted it: The whole show Millennium was about a military-created program that takes high-IQ children and tweaks them, which sometimes goes haywire and creates serial killers who are then used by the program; season three has an episode about a military mind control circuit.
Diogenes: Thucydides (verifier): unsupported. Millennium's premise is Frank Black, a former FBI profiler, and the Millennium Group, a private consultancy of ex-law-enforcement members, which investigates serial killers and apocalyptic portents. It is not a military program that tweaks high-IQ children and uses the killers it produces. The season-three episodes I found, such as "Exegesis," deal with Millennium Group–linked remote-viewer experiments, not a military mind-control circuit. I did not search for every season-three episode, so a single episode touching on military mind control is possible. The "whole show" claim is wrong.- Aristotle uphold: On the record: Dyer opened as an Orthodox Christian conspiratorial commentator who says serial killers are made and used by military and intelligence programs. His Millennium remark is pop-culture support for that thesis and is consistent with it. At 166:28 Dyer said "the whole show millennium was actually about this this program." He described it as a military program that takes high-IQ children, tweaks them into serial killers, and then uses them. Thucydides' finding holds: the show's premise is Frank Black and the private Millennium Group hunting killers and apocalyptic signs, and no such program is the show's subject. The "whole show" claim is wrong. Dyer asserted it flatly and did not correct it, so the minor false claim stands.
- Socrates overturn: Read blind, found nothing worth calling. This is Dyer's solo aside about a TV show, with no opponent on the floor, so the floor rule bars a call. It is a description of a show's plot, not an argument. It is consistent with my earlier rulings on his monologue.
- Plato uphold: On the record: Jay Dyer opened with conspiratorial cultural commentary about intelligence-state and occult networks behind serial killers, and has held it throughout; this TV-trivia aside is offered as support for that thesis, from memory, and does not depart from it. Dyer said the whole show Millennium was about a military program that makes serial killers out of tweaked high-IQ children. The show's premise is Frank Black and the Millennium Group, a private consultancy of ex-law-enforcement members, and not a military program. Dyer stated it as fact, not as speculation. Thucydides' finding holds on the "whole show" claim, and the fault is minor.
The bench voted on this, and its verdict is kept as it was given. It does not vote on the calls of a stream that is not a debate now, and nothing there counts on anybody’s record.
