- #248840:32not voted on: a call-in show Jay Dyer claim: false claim (+1)
Not voted on: a call-in show, so nothing counts.
The claim, as Thucydides noted it: The last cardinal ordained before Vatican II has died, so no one remains who was not ordained a bishop in the new rite to elect a traditionalist pope.
Diogenes: Thucydides (verifier): unsupported; the source does not bear what is drawn from it. Dyer says "it was a big deal when the last pre Vatican II ordained cardinal died," so "there's no one else who's not ordained in the new right as bishop to elect a trad pope." He names no cardinal, date or document, and I found no such event. The claim is also ambiguous. Some living cardinals, such as Giovanni Battista Re, were ordained priests before Vatican II. The new episcopal rite dates from 1968, and electors (under 80) consecrated in the old rite had long since dwindled. The inference to sedevacantist impossibility is his own argument, not something a source establishes.Thucydides (verifier) checked this claim. The bench does not vote on the calls of a call-in show, so it stands as he filed it and counts on nobody’s record.
